Dear Friends, 

Eight years ago and again four years ago, you supported my campaigns for mayor.  I’m deeply grateful.

Today, as I come close to beginning my eighth year as Mayor, I am announcing that I will not be seeking a third term.  

It wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s the right one.  Over the past seven years, our team helped take Hartford from near bankruptcy to stability and growth, and from the disruption of a global pandemic to a new recovery.  

We rebuilt schools, invested in parks, libraries and infrastructure — without borrowing a dime.  We attracted private investment.  We rebuilt confidence in city government.  We cut the property tax rate for the first time in a long, long time. And most important, we invested in people — especially our young people, and those who need our support the most. 

With your help, we’ve made Hartford so much stronger.  

I’m sending a video along with this email, to share some additional reflections.  But most of all, today I just wanted to say THANK YOU.
