Friends,
We have held off on sending emails recently because we have been recouping from a long, two-year election cycle. And we hope that you're also getting a moment to breathe.
But today, there is something happening that’s too important to not share with you.
The New York Times staff— everyone from journalists to custodians—over 1,800 strong is striking over inadequate pay among other issues related to benefits and working conditions.
We are asking you to refrain from opening NYT articles today, engaging with social media content, and listening to NYT podcasts. Engagement with NYT content is what drives their profit, which has exclusively benefitted those at the top -- on the backs of workers.
I repeat: Do NOT read or support the NYT today.
Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors as many are not aware of the strike. Barrier To Entry PAC is proud to be a pro-labor organization founded upon pro-worker values. Thanks for doing your part.
In Solidarity, -- Megan
