John, as we celebrate the holiday season and prepare to welcome the new year, I'm feeling especially grateful for all the years I have been able to call Delaware my home. I built my life here, raised my family here, found community here, and fell in love with this small but mighty state.

That's why it's been the honor of my life to serve Delaware in public office – as State Treasurer, Representative, Governor, and Senator. And I'm proud to have spent my time in office laser focused on one singular goal: making life better for the families who make up my beautiful state.

It's been a privilege to witness and play a role in the amazing progress for our country. I voted in favor of the Affordable Care Act, which revolutionized our health care system and brought quality care to millions of Americans. I helped bring our country back from the depths of the recession, revitalizing communities all across our country and giving financial security and hope back to families. And I've led our efforts to combat climate change head on, so that we can leave a healthy planet behind for future generations.

So much has changed, but one thing that hasn’t changed is my unwavering belief that public service can make tomorrow better than today for our children, for our community, and for our nation.

I believe wholeheartedly in the promise of America and in the possibility of what we can still achieve. None of these victories happened overnight. They took long hours, tough decisions, relentless work, and real grit. And more than anything else, they took folks like you, standing up to demand a better future. 

Now, as anti-democratic and far-right extremists threaten to turn back the clock in America and undo so much of the progress we've made, we must rise to the occasion again. That's why I'm reaching out to you: Please, before the new year begins, will you make a grassroots donation of $5 or more to move our country forward and invest in a better future for our children? I promise that I will fight for your family, but I need you to stand with me.
