** Support Metro D.C. DSA Bernie Working Group Through Primary Season!

Metro D.C. DSA’s Bernie Working Group has had an amazing start to our canvassing and outreach efforts in 2020. In our first canvass of the year, more than 40 volunteers came out to knock on over 1,400 doors in support of Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign!

Since November, when we kicked off our fundraising efforts, the Bernie Working Group has knocked on thousands of doors in the area, hosted three Democratic debate watch parties, and held a film screening of Bernie’s documentary of Eugene Debs. Through this work, we are supporting the strongest democratic socialist electoral campaign in a century and raising class consciousness in our region, all while recruiting more workers to join DSA.
Because we are running an independent expenditure campaign, we have the freedom to print our own literature about the democratic socialist values Bernie supports, and how they’ll improve conditions for working people in D.C., VA, and MD. We also control our own messaging and outreach. But this freedom means we have to independently fundraise to cover union printing and other costs.
Thanks to the money we raised in November, we secured enough funding to cover the costs of an initial printing order. With primary season underway, though, we’ll be knocking on doors consistently through the end of June, and need enough literature to make our canvassing successful. Right now, our working group hopes to raise $3,000 to cover these expenses.

Our chapter has come together to help candidates fundraise in the past. We’re certain we can meet our current goal of $3,000 to empower our comrades to support democratic socialism at the national level and organize the working class at the local level.
