Introducing the TrashBlitz Community Fund!
Big change starts at the community level, and our TrashBlitz research platform is a proven tool to increase environmental stewardship, build coalitions, and drive policy change.
We're inviting organizations and coalitions working on plastics/toxics reduction and/or circular economy initiatives to apply for the TrashBlitz Community Fund. Two groups will receive $5,000 each (as well as the necessary tools and training) to execute a TrashBlitz in their region and develop a report.

How Much Plastic is in the Ocean?
5 Gyres was initially founded with the goal of determining how much plastic was in the ocean. Nineteen research expeditions later, we published the very first Global Estimate of Marine Plastic Pollution in 2014. Now, we're preparing to publish a new paper with an updated number and, most importantly, detailing what needs to be done (hint: solutions start before the ocean).
