Dear Friend --
We’re hiring a new Staff Organizer!
After six months on staff, our
current staffer Ella is stepping down, although she plans to remain
highly engaged in the chapter. That means we’re hiring a new staffer.
Is it you?
Here’s what the Staff Organizer does:
-
Member communications. Do you get excited about writing a well-crafted email or SMS
that moves members to take action, or supporting members to write
their own? This is the job for you! We use NationBuilder, Spoke, and
CallHub.
-
Fundraising. You’ll
do email campaigns, phone banks, one-on-one asks, merch, and more! Any
fundraising experience you have is a strong plus.
- Office management. You’ll
support members with checking in and out organizing materials, handle
regular restocking of the office, and be responsible for keeping our
office an invaluable resource for organizing in the East
Bay.
-
Website management. You’ll make sure our website reflects our current campaigns, and
there’s lots of room for experimentation if you want to build a robust
web presence for the chapter.
-
Data management. Organizations like ours need
to track who comes to events or takes action and plug them into
real-world organizing, and that means data, data, data.
- Leadership development and volunteer management. This is where your organizing experience
will shine. Do you know how to identify who’s curious and committed?
Can you hold one-on-one meetings where you support members to lead
more and more challenging organizing tasks and projects? Can you
coordinate a team to complete a shared goal like an event or
fundraising campaign? You’re in the right place.
-
Finance support.
You’ll work with our elected Treasurer to make sure our taxes get
done, our budget is balanced, and a myriad other small finance tasks
that go into running an organization like ours. You don’t need
expertise in finance, but you should be willing to learn and
comfortable thinking and talking about money.
-
Event coordination.
You’ll support our General Meetings, coordinating a team of a
dozen-plus members so that the logistics function quietly and smoothly
and we can focus on what’s important: member democracy.
To apply, see
the full job description here and fill
out this application. For first
consideration, submit your application by Saturday, March 25th at
11:59 PM. According to the current contract, the Staff Organizer is
not permitted to be a member of an ideological caucus during the
duration of their employment.
The position offers a wage of
$25-30 an hour, at 32 hours a week. It includes paid time off and a
stipend for healthcare.
We can’t wait to work with
you!
Solidarity,
East Bay DSA Steering
Committee
