#GivingTuesday + You = A Healthier Planet A message from Lauren Weston, Acterra's Executive Director: Remember the wildfires this summer, and the hazy, orange skies? This #GivingTuesday, our priority is clean, healthy air for all. Local residents in East Palo Alto and Menlo Park don't have enough outdoor air quality sensors, and many households lack indoor air filtering equipment. We want to change that. The good news is, you can help us protect families' access to clean air. Donate here: acterra.org/giving-tuesday Giving Tuesday is a global movement with local impact. Giving Tuesday is a social change movement created to counteract the commercialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Around the world, participating in Giving Tuesday means celebrating the gratitude that comes from giving. You can help empower under-resourced communities. We know that communities on the frontlines of climate change have often done the least to create the problem. This Giving Tuesday, you have the chance to help fix this imbalance and a make a real difference in the lives of neighbors in need. Our goal is to raise enough to purchase two air quality sensors ($250 each) to be installed in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven to help fill gaps in coverage. We also want to raise $400 to help buy indoor air filtering devices for local families chosen by local leaders in these communities. Children, the elderly, and those with chronic conditions such as asthma are particularly negatively affected by poor air quality. Every contribution is important, no matter how large or small. Thank you for your generosity in this difficult and challenging year. Below is a message from team member Jared about the importance of this Giving Tuesday.
